School Project

Nathan had to do a diorama this week.  His project is to create a salamander and its habitat.  One option is to use paper to make the salamander (origami, clay, styrofoam).  But I had a great idea.  Why not use play dough (yep, the pink ones that we never used for the past 3 years!) to shape the salamander and paint it?  So I looked up for an image of a salamander as shown on the left.

So we spent about 20 minutes shaping the salamanders.   After the shaping was done, I put it on a paper plate and placed it near the window.  After 2-3 days, the dough salamander hardened.  We then use water-based paint to color them to match the real salamander.   As you can see, the picture on the left below shows the pink dough salamanders (the one on the left is Nathan's).  The finished salamanders are shown on the right.  It's a pretty cool project!
